Why are we promoting interior plants?

Matt and Morgan Robertson, a father and son team, founded Verdant Landscape and Design Inc. in 2018 in Milton, Ontario. Their goal is to improve people’s lives by enhancing their environment. They started Verdant Interiors Inc. to improve peoples’ indoor workspaces.

Both are graduates of the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture, and they are deeply passionate about education. As business owners, they encourage their staff to grow their skills through the Horticultural Technician Apprenticeship Program.

Verdant Interiors Inc. incorporates biophilic design principles in their work. That sounds like a fantastic initiative!

Biophilic design principles aim to create environments that connect people with nature, enhancing their well-being and productivity. Here are some key principles:

  1. Natural Light: Maximizing natural light to improve mood and energy levels.
  2. Natural Materials: Using materials like wood, stone, and plants to bring a sense of nature indoors. Plants is what we specialize in!
  3. Views of Nature: Incorporating windows and open spaces that offer views of natural landscapes. We can mimic a natural area by using plants. Large floor plants mimicking trees for example.
  4. Water Features: Including elements like fountains or aquariums to create a calming atmosphere.
  5. Plants: Integrating a variety of plants to improve air quality and add visual interest.
  6. Natural Shapes and Forms: Using organic shapes and patterns that mimic those found in nature.
  7. Natural Colors: Employing a color palette inspired by nature, such as greens, blues, and earth tones.
  8. Sensory Variability: Creating environments that engage multiple senses, such as the sound of water or the scent of plants.

These principles help create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also promote health and well-being.
