Living plants for a healthier workplace
Many people think that adding living plants to a workplace is simply to make the place look good. Aesthetics is a very important reason to add living plants but there are more important reasons. These reasons may surprise you.
New buildings and buildings that have been renovated are becoming more and more energy efficient. That in itself is tremendous but there is one major drawback; low air exchange. Ventilation to the outside air has diminished a lot. There has been an increase of Volatile Organic Compounds (V.O.C.’s) in many workplaces. V.O.C.’s are released from objects such as photocopiers, office furniture and carpeting. These V.O.C’s have no way of escaping the interior air.
